So it has been 3 years since part one of this post, and it appears I did not meet my goal of completing the arcade machine that year. Yet again I have been bit by the arcade bug, so i’m back to working on the cabinet. I’m going to finish this thing if it kills me. As promised we will start to go down the journey of the arcade.
Back when I first started looking into this, the first challenge was how do you interface the control panel to your computer. There were not many options. You could hack a pc joypad, or you could hack a computer keyboard. Both of these devices once modified could enable you to convert button presses to inputs on your computer. I chose to hack a keyboard. I ended up hacking two keyboards. The Year was 2004.

It’s been a while since I posted so I decided I should post a new one.
So I’m going to post about my new secret obsession “The Simpsons: Tapped Out.” As many of you know I hate farmville and games like it, so it is to my shame to admit I love this game. It is basically a Simpsons themed farmville. What makes this game fun and addictive is the Simpsons! The basic premise of the game is that in classic Homer fashion he was goofing off instead of working and he blew up Springfield. It is my objective to rebuild Springfield how i see fit. I can build all the different areas in Springfield like the Simpsons home, or the power plant, or the school, etc. I hate that i like this game, but it has me hooked. If you get a chance check it out its available on IOS devices http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/the-simpsons-tapped-out/id497595276?mt=8
Also don’t forget to add me as a friend “CrazySteve5575”
Check after the break on how to unlock a secret item ‘The Jebediah Springfield Statue.’

AfroSamurai is a 5 part animated miniseries that aired on SpikeTV In early 2007. I had never heard of this show until the release of the video game this year. Even then i did not think much of it, but something told me to add it to my gamefly game list. A few months back i finally received it. I held on to it for a little over a month playing through its colorful and imaginative levels. I still have not watched the episodes, but i am now more interested in them then ever. The main character “Afro Samurai” and his sidekick are voiced by none other then Samuel L. Jackson. As you could imagine the game is full of as much violence and profanity as i think they could squeeze in. Continue reading AfroSamurai The Game: Completed
Ever since i can remember I’ve loved video games. From my early days, of playing the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) to now, i have always had a passion of obtaining whatever goal that was set forth in front of me, on that wonderful glowing box called a TV. I remember Spending hours and hours trying to defeat the forces of bowser, trying to get the high score in Mortal Kombat, and saving hyrule from the evil Gannon. At that time, the most exciting games to play were the arcade machines. Although they are growing more and more of a rarity in this day and age, arcade machines, and more specifically arcades themselves brought an experience unlike any other. There was nothing like Digging through your couch cushions searching wildly for the one thing that made those wonderful machines alive, The Quarter. Armed with a pocket full of quarters, children would flock to arcades like birds flying south for winter. As a young child, i rarely had extra money to play arcade machines, which made them that much more special to me. As i get older now, the passion i once had for gaming is still there, but the ability to play is gone. Too many real life projects now get in the way. One of the many reality’s of being an adult. I remember wishing so much that i was older, now i look back, and wish i still had that care free life. As i grew up, I became very involved in the computer world.

My first exposure to Resident Evil 5, was the demo available on psn. After playing this demo, i thought this game was horrible. The demo was extremely hard, and within 10 min of playing i was stuck dying over and over again. I quickly uninstalled the demo, and said, guess im not playing that game again. The Resident Evil series has always intrigued me, but i always found it too difficult to play, and i usually walked away from it before really getting any where. Somehow RE5 ended up in my gamefly list, and before i realized it i had a copy sitting at my house. So i figured i would try out the game one more time. Now its always been my usual tenancy to play the games on medium, because playing on easy was always too easy. I played about 10 min into the game, and was stuck in the same spot. I threw the game to the side and said i was gonna play something else. But something was nagging me to try it again, so this time i put it on easy….

So to keep with our theme of Zombie Mayhem, I bring to you Urban Dead. This game has been around for quite some time now. It is an extremely basic web based game, where you move around the city, collecting items, and barricades to save you from the zombies outside. Different classes enable you to have different abilities as in many games, but this one has a twist… you can actually play as the zombies! Every hour you get a certain amount of moves, but if your moves run out and your outside, one of the lingering zombies may come past and kill you, bringing you to the ranks of Zombie fun. Some players may choose to stay this way, and play their game as the Zombie menance, but dont worry, you can be converted back to human provided you can find a some one with the proper syringe to do so. As i said before the game has a very basic display (Click Here to see a sample) Any way enough talking about this rather creative game, its time to go play it, Have fun.

So by now you should have made your way though the first episode of The Last Stand to freedom. But Alas, while on the way to a military base, a medic treating a patient onboard realizes that his patient is dead seconds before the zombie kills him and the pilots, causing a catastrophic crash of which you are the sole survivor. After a month hiding in a hardware store, you hear a radio broadcast stating that the surviving military and civilian forces are calling all remaining survivors to a coastal city in order to save as many lives as possible before abandoning the mainland to the undead and taking to the seas. You have one month to travel across the state before the ships leave.
New game features include the ability to set traps, search individual buildings for survivors and gear, and travel between individual cities.

It is now October, This seams like the right month to post this. The Last Stand Is a Web based flash game where you play a survivor in a world full of zombies. You build a small fortification where you defend your life from hordes of zombies. At night hordes of the undead come to feast on your flesh. All that stops them from doing so, is a shoddy fence and your expert marksmanship. During the day the zombie nightmare subsides and you have time to search for survivors and weapons to help you in your defense. The more survivors you have the better your searches go. At night the Survivors will help you defend your lives. This is a very interesting game.

You build up armies, make trade agreements with nations, and attack others. All while keeping your nations population happy. The interesting thing about this game, is how certian military actions, can effect the whole planet, and not just the nation you are attacking. If you have some free time check it out. It is not a very time consuming game like some other games out there.
Sunday is my birthday, and as part of the celebration my best friend Rob came down from Albany for a night of gaming fun. The night started like any gaming night, with a visit to my friend General Tsao over at the Middletown You You, and ended like a night I will soon not forget. This story though, starts about a month ago. I had a craving for the Doggy Goodness that Rich’s Hotdogs has to offer. I stopped in picked up the dogs, and something in the mini fridge on the counter caught my eyes. This shiny red can with the word Cocaine written on it. Did my eyes deceive me? Was this the mystery energy drink I had heard so much about over a year prior to this date? I reached in and focused on the label the words ENERGY DRINK was written around the top of the can. This was it! I had wondered so long what it was like. And just my luck, they had TWO! I knew immediately what I was going to do with these. I got back to my house on this lucky Saturday afternoon, and while I was chowing down on the Hot Doggy Goodness. I happened to catch Rob Online. At that point I planted the seed. I told him that the next time he came down for game night I had a surprise, and how right I was, such a surprise I was not even expecting what was going to happen. Flash back to last night. We get back to my house at about 6:30 and I unveil the drinks. At first Rob was shocked that I had actually found them, then excited for the fun to come. We decided it was too early for an energy boost since we had just filled our bellies with the general. We sat down ad time flew, next thing we knew it was close to 10pm, and we had not taken a single break, from the relentless gaming onslaught. We both decided it was a good time to call our loved ones and tell them that they are so. Somewhere between 10:30 and 11, we were looking for the munchies.
